Floradora is a one woman enterprise based out of her studio in Herefordshire. Established in spring 2015 Dora Winstone took the plunge & made her artwork top priority. When asked to make arrangements for a Wedding she wanted to put more into her flowers, having only previously exhibited in her spare time.
With a Fine Art background she has always made artwork alongside various voluntary positions. It was the three years of backstage work in the theatre which taught her to be less precious and more confident in her own ability. This time gave her the inspiration to invest more in her own passions and took a step back from volunteering. Less than a year later Floradora was born. She now works independently on commissions and selling her work at arts, crafts & wedding fayres.
Part of the unique nature of the work is that the main materials Dora uses are recycled. The paper for the flowers is all recycled envelopes. If you look hard enough at the portfolio gallery you may be able to see part of a stamp, someones name or part of an address.
I have been collecting for quite a few years now & in that time they have evolved from being something I see and put in the recycling bin, to being the basis of of my artwork.
With her wider community of friends & family collecting for her she has got quite a rainbow of colours in stock. It has only been recently that she has outsourced new paper to make sure the blooms were the right colour for the brief.
I enjoy being able to see the history of the paper, alluding to its origin; be it a partial address or a stamp it all adds to the texture of the flowers.

All work is made to order and each request could be for a new flower or a slight twist on something that has been made before. Currently her commissions span Framed Posies, Button Holes, Potted Arrangements, Cards, Bouquets, Single Stems & Cake Decorations. She will always welcome new challenges so don’t be afraid to ask.
